Remote Peering

Remote peering from Blix Solutions lets professional ISPs connect to internet exchanges near our network — without investing in their own dedicated wavelengths or equipment at each exchange. You get direct BGP sessions to hundreds of networks across the various internet exchanges, delivered over our own transport network, from a single port and a single contract.

Traditionally, peering at an exchange meant collocating a router at the exchange site, buying wavelength capacity to get there, and staffing it all. Remote peering removes that entire layer: we extend the exchange’s peering LAN to you, and you peer as if your router was racked right next to the exchange fabric.

How it works

  • One port, many exchanges — connect to your chosen internet exchanges from your rack in our data centers or from your own network over our capacity services
  • Your BGP, your routing policy — you run the BGP sessions directly with the route servers and peering partners at each exchange; we only carry the traffic
  • No wavelength investment — no need to buy and operate your own wavelengths to reach each exchange location
  • Fast turn-up — a new exchange is a configuration change, not a build project

Why it matters to your network

  • Lower cost of peering — share the transport economics of our network instead of paying for underutilized dedicated circuits
  • Direct control — unlike going through a reseller’s route collector, remote peering gives you real BGP adjacency to the networks at the exchange, with your own AS visible in the peering fabric
  • Reach beyond your footprint — exchange traffic in the Nordic region and beyond, using our presence at exchanges like FIXO in Oslo and other internet exchanges near our network
  • Scales with you — start with the exchanges you need now, and add more as your traffic grows

Why Blix Solutions

  • We are a peering network ourselves — we operate AS50304 and peer at these exchanges, so the paths between you and the exchange fabrics are ones we use for our own traffic
  • Own transport network — your peering traffic rides our Nordic and European network with 24/7/365 monitoring and service level agreements
  • One partner — pair remote peering with IP transit, co-location and RIPE LIR services from the same house
