RIPE NCC (Réseaux IP Européens Network Coordination Centre) is the Regional Internet Registry for Europe, the Middle East and parts of Central Asia. It distributes Internet number resources — IP addresses and Autonomous System Numbers (ASNs) — to its members. A Local Internet Registry (LIR) is a RIPE NCC member organisation that is registered to receive allocations of these resources and assign them to end users and its own network.
Blix Group, which owns Blix Solutions, is a registered LIR with RIPE. That means we can provide IP number resources and registry services directly to our customers — together with the network services to use them on.
What we provide as an LIR
- IPv4 addresses — since the RIPE region’s IPv4 pool is exhausted, new IPv4 space comes via the RIPE NCC IPv4 waiting list or through verified transfers. We can source and register IPv4 allocations for your network.
- IPv6 allocations and assignments — ample IPv6 address space for your infrastructure, correctly registered and ready to route.
- AS Numbers — for networks that want to run BGP and multi-home, we register ASNs and set up the related registry objects.
- RIPE Database management — maintenance of your inetnum, aut-num, route/route6 and related objects, so your announcements are properly documented for IRR-based filtering by transit providers and peers.
- RPKI / ROA signing — cryptographically signed route authorisations, which a growing number of networks require before accepting your prefixes.
- Reverse DNS delegation — correctly delegated reverse zones for your address space.
- RIPE consultancy — policy guidance, registration paperwork, resource transfers, and general registry know-how from a team that operates its own network (AS50304) under the same rules.
Why it matters to you
- Independence — address space registered through your own or a sponsored LIR relationship is not tied to a single transit provider. In several circumstances, resources can even be transferred between providers.
- Clean routing setup — correctly registered IRR objects and RPKI ROAs make transit and peering provisioning faster; filtering networks accept your prefixes without friction.
- One partner — number resources, IP transit, capacity and co-location from the same house, with the registry work done by people who operate networks themselves.
